Music In EYFS
Within the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception), the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework is followed. Music in the early years supports chidlren’s cognitive development, language and communications skills, physical development and social development. Music promotes children’s wellbeing, self-expression and creativity. In nursery children take part in daily music and song sessions. In Reception children follow the units outlined on our school’s Long Term Plan. Music is interwoven into all areas of our early years curriculum alongside the planned units.

Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
Our curriculum for Music, delivers the aims and contents of the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Music in Key Stage 1 and 2. We use the scheme of work from Kapow to support teaching of Music from Reception to Year 6.
